I was walking by the moonlight in my thongs and shorts, to go lock up the chook pens one evening. Just light enough to see the ground but not to clearly. Luckily I caught a little movement below my feet. I was just about to step on a huge king brown. I held a karate kid stork pose for what seemed like an eternity but in reality was probably a few seconds ...I swear that snake eyed my other foot off before slithering away. I didn't even lock up the chooks that night. What a woos...

if you save ten percent and add it to your next batch itll cut your composting time by almost half! its basically like a sourdough starter because youre adding the bacteria and mycelium to seed the next round.

I wish my rosella survived the rain. It was so beautiful and died after 2 months of torrential rain. Water logged roots. Rosella jam is amazing. My yard is looking like a jungle. This rain has just led to a boggy mess. Thankfully it is starting to ease up so ive been getting out with the whipper snipper and the mower in some parts. My ginger has exploded. It looks fabulous. A lot of other plants massively suffered. Considering putting up a some plastic/shade cloth to help with the harsh conditions. I got very little from my garden so far this year. I just planted purple sweet potato for the first time ever. It is looking great so far.

It seems that most of these would also find containers on hot scorching urban rooftops an ideal condition. I'll try some on mine if i can find starts or seeds. I also find jerusalem artichoke best grown in containers anyway. The tubers are also great for shaving into chips. I've used them for snacks or for a dried soup base.

Hi Mark great channel, been a subscriber for a long time. Just a thought: Why don’t you use weed mat around your raised planters? Stop weeds dead. I have used it in & around my greenhouses with complete success. Saves such a lot of work. Below is another channel I follow who show how to do it. Great people also. ruclips.net/video/A_sExBiy8ss/видео.htmlsi=GoEvMGfJT33DxCG6

Great video. What variety are you growing? What rootstock are your plums on that's keeping the trees so tiny? People around here in Georgia use a peach rootstock to dwarf their trees, but peach rootstock makes the trees much more susceptible to peach borers, crown gall and bacterial stem canker. I graft my plums onto suckers of chickasaw cultivars which will turn into a 20-foot tree if you let it. I try to maintain my trees at 10 ft by 10 ft. I have about 15 mature plum trees in my home orchard in SE Georgia, which is a hot, humid borderline subtropical climate. We have to grow very disease resistant varieties with lots of chickasaw plum (Prunus angustifolia) in their genetics. On the matter of thinning plums, whether or not to thin depends on a number of factors with variety being the most important. First don't thin flowers. You need the maximum display of flowers to attract pollinators. Most years I don't have to thin much, but this year I did. I do my thinning when the plums are about the size of a marble. Some varieties can overcrop so bad that the trees fail to bloom the following year. If you are in a climate where you are susceptible to violent thunderstorms with lots of wind gusts, the weight of too many plums can break the tree to pieces. Some strains need to be thinned a lot more than others. In my Orchard the variety called Robusto has to be thinned the most often. My Byron Gold isn't mature yet, but Byron Gold has a reputation for having to be thinned most years. Thanks.

I've done a lot of experimenting with food as it proteins to help. And this is just anecdotal nothing more than my experience as a C5 SCI quadriplegic who wants to be as healthy as possible. I eat about 40% vegetables, 35% meat, 15% fruit, 5% seeds/nuts, 5%bread/oats/rice. This is what personally works for me. This percentages aren't exact and they can slightly fluctuate week to week. Even given my condition and workout a lot and if I start to lose weight I'll up the meat and the carbs a little bit and try to put on muscle. So every now and then those numbers jump up.

Good stuff Mark, would it be possible to add worms into the tumbler and make it a vermicomposter? A side by side regular composter and vermicompster might be a good comparison video, you might need to mow the lawn more often for the nitrogen input but I'm sure Mrs Mark wouldn't mind :D

Those free range chickens are great little anti snake agents,,,,fully grown venomous snakes will generally move away when 5 to 10 chickens sight them and start flapping wings and following them,,,if the snake is under 14 inch’s it’s on the menu,,,,they see a mouse , rat, lizard or roach it’s a foot race to eat it.

Quit trying to win another Boy Scout brownie point to earn your Eagle Scout Badge. Rent a tree stump grinder or hire a veteran who uses a stump grinder to make a living to feed himself and his family. You must be retired to wanr to spend all that time to reinvent the wheel using Fred Flintstone methods to complete something more modern and more easier. By the time you took to make this video, a stump grinder would have taken care of 4 tree stumps, while your still trying to use you're wooden wedge. 😂

We bought 15 baby ducks. They did great for a few weeks. Then, they just started to die off. They're about the size as the to "golden ducks" that he picks up in this video. We have dog kennels built into a building. Each kennel is about 4 x 6 feet. We'll keep 6 or 7 in a kennel. We clean out their bedding and poop about every other day. We keep their feeder and waterer stocked, and we've been keeping a red light above them to keep them warm. Yesterday, I went out to feed and water them and found two dead ones. I have no idea why. We cleaned their kennel and added new bedding, fed and watered them. This morning I went back out and there were 4 more dead. What am I doing wrong? What am I not doing? My wife is quite distraught.
